Honey Barbecue Chickpea Burger Recipe

This barbecued favorite is a guaranteed hit among the vegetarians within your party circle. It can also be enjoyed by those looking to try low-cholesterol options for replacing regular meat. This recipe is also incredibly easy, and should only take about 10 minutes to prepare, and another 20 to cook on the grill or your stovetop.

You Will Need

1 Can of chickpeas drained
1 Large carrot grated
1 Clove of garlic
1/4 Teaspoon cumin
2 Tablespoons white flour
1 Large egg
1/4 Cup barbecue sauce
1 Tablespoon honey
2 Tablespoons olive oil
Salt & Pepper

Instructions

Prepare your carrot and set this aside in a small bowl for a moment. Place your chickpeas, garlic and spices in a food processor and mix together until well blended. Next, add your egg, flour, barbecue sauce and honey until the mixture turns into a hearty paste. You may allow this to sit in the refrigerator for about an hour to solidify the mixture more. Fry these patties on the grill or in a pan with olive oil until cooked thoroughly and browed on both sides. Serve on a hamburger bun, or whole grain bread with red onion, tomato and all the right ‘fixings.’
